What are the technical specifications?
IP over IEEE 802.3-based full-duplex, non-circuit-switched services across a diversified, fiber-rich backbone from your premises to our data centers — true packet-switched Ethernet with no single point of failure.
How is this different from standard carrier redundancy?
Most carriers offer a backup circuit from the same provider. We provision your service across multiple independent fiber routes and carriers simultaneously, and use BGP to route around outages, fiber cuts and congestion in real time.
How is failover handled?
Automatically and transparently at the IP layer, in milliseconds — well below application timeouts. No DNS propagation delays and no manual intervention.

What is internet access demarcation?
The boundary where your private network meets public routing. We manage it with a dedicated network interface device, so traffic rides our managed IP network first and consistent policies apply before anything reaches the internet.
Can I apply my own routing policies there?
Yes. The demarcation device supports static routing and BGP, including AS-PATH prepending, communities, prefix filtering and traffic engineering.
What about traffic between my own sites?
Traffic to other Fusion locations and data centers stays on our private backbone and never touches the public internet.

When should I use static routing vs. BGP?
Static routing suits simple, deterministic primary/backup designs. BGP adjusts paths automatically based on real-time network health — the better choice for most multi-path or multi-carrier enterprises.
Do you provide IP space, or can I bring my own?
Both. IP addresses are included, or bring your own and we’ll announce it via BGP on your behalf — you keep full ownership and portability.

How does seamless failover work?
Every site has independent fiber connections to our data centers. When one degrades, traffic reroutes at the IP layer in milliseconds — no dropped packets or sessions.
Is the data center side redundant too?

Is full redundancy an add-on cost?
No. Site-specific circuit redundancy is standard and included in your service — it’s simply how we engineer every connection.
